On Monday, 7 August, Geotab Africa, representing Geotab Inc, joined the 4x4Electric expeditors, Renske Cox, and Maarten van Pel at De Hoek Plaza in the Vaal as they drove into Gauteng. The drive was made up of electric vehicles, with the Geotab Africa team driving in their very own electric BMW iX3 from Drive Electric. Cox and van Pel’s electric Skoda Enyaq iv80 SUV is a sight for sore eyes. The EV is basically a house on wheels – it is fitted with a water tank, shower, tent, and a charging shelf, containing solar panels.
On 9 August, GridCars hosted an event where Cox and van Pel shared stories of their EV adventure across Africa. The event saw many attendants arriving in EVs, which is indicative of the industry’s progress. And Geotab Africa is ready to take the complexity out of electrifying your fleets with industry-leading telematics solutions.
Fun Fact: Cox and van Pel’s EV expedited through Africa mostly on solar power because the sun is far stronger in Africa than it is in Europe. Africa’s abundant sunlight presents a fantastic opportunity for exploiting solar power.
