Geotab Server Migration

In order to increase our security levels, the Geotab servers have been moved to Canada (MYGEOTAB.COM). Geotab takes a rigorous approach to data security by following the principle of continuous improvement. To protect our customers and partners, Geotab is constantly reviewing, improving and validating our security mechanisms and processes so our systems remain resilient to intrusion and disaster. Geotab collaborates with leading stakeholders to advance security across the industry. As we grow, more industries, fleets and customers will benefit from Geotab’s uncompromising stance on data security.

There are also few things that you can now access:

  1. The Geotab Mobile App: (Known as MyGeotab Fleet Management)

MyGeotab Mobile App

  • The app is a suitable tool for fleet managers or business owners that are always busy. It works on all platforms. It is as good as using a computer.

2. The Weather

  • You can now view weather forecasts anytime, anywhere on the map. This can help you in knowing a road’s condition and can result in further accident prevention.

3. Road Speed Change

  • There are two road speed map layers, which come in the form of commercial and community speeds. Previously, we did not have the added map layer to validate the speeding rules.

Please see example below:
Road Speed Change
There are now 3 options for the Speeding Rule Condition:
Commercial = Here.com only
Community = OpenStreetMaps + changes that users have made
All = Here.com + OpenStreetMaps + changes that users have made
The icon with the 3 green people represents Community.
The order represents which provider will be used. (If your rule condition includes both providers). The first 1 is the “more accurate data”.
I.E. from this example:
Commercial = 60 km/h (since this is first it is the “more accurate data” b/c Community value is “estimate”)
Community = 100 km/h *estimate
